Simplify Your Success - The Millionaire Midwife

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jessica Winston, Founder of The Millionaire Midwife (J. Winston), located in Knightdale, NC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am in the business of branding. Creating a cohesive message to help people better communicate who they are, what they do, and why people should care! I help people paint the perfect picture of their business and its value so their clients see them as THE choice and not just another option! My customers are women who desire to build a household brand name!

Tell us about yourself

I am the queen of unsolicited advice! I know it's not a sexy answer, but it's the truth! If I see anything that could make one thing run smoother, be better or achieve the goal for sure, you better believe that I will share it! After giving unsolicited advice to family, friends, and fellow business owners for years, there was a running theme I kept hearing. A one-liner I received after every impromptu session of crash counsel... "OMG JESS, THANK YOU, IT WORKED!"

My advice and business counsel were working. And not just working, but turning huge profits, solving $1000 questions, and starting fortune 500 companies working! And I went from running my mouth to running a successful business giving entrepreneurs clarity through strategy. When I learned the truth about success, I just had to share it. I learned that the commonality of any success is strategy. No matter the industry, no matter the intent. This is what I know, not to be a cool quote but a hard fact. Success is not hard, success is strategic, and strategy is my stroke of genius!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment so far is helping a business gross $25k in one month due to specific strategy techniques. Also, I am very proud of myself for consistency! Motivation is powerful, but my discipline is what helps me.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Management of people! When you have a team, sometimes your personality can get in the way. Me, I am nice, meek, and agreeable. But, when God has entrusted you with a vision, it must be executed in a specific way. So the hardest thing I have learned so far is that being NICE and KIND are two different things. I'm nice, but in my business, I'm not nice; I am kind. Nice is subjective; it goes along to get along. I cannot afford to be meek in my business!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't be afraid to start before you're ready.
  2. Understand your value and learn to appropriately communicate that to your audience.
  3. Get your legal stuff in order. Register your business, protect your business name with a trademark, and BRAND your business!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

It is an absolute pleasure to partner with people in executing their God-given visions, and I don't take it lightly!
