Feel Better in Mind & Body - The Wellness Coach

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Traci Fisher, CEO of The Wellness Coach, located in Cleveland, OH, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

You can feel amazing in mind & body right smack in the middle of your highly scheduled life! The people I work with are highly educated, successful, and don't have time to play around. They want to lose weight, reduce stress, have work-life integrity, reduce alcohol consumption, improve relationships or just feel better overall!

We cut right to the chase from the get-go to achieve immediate results...AND we do it in a way that teaches you how to coach yourself. The goal isn't to achieve the result once; it's to sustain it and keep leveling up. And I have a really good way to do that.

The methodology I use is scientifically based. We use your body's science and your mind's power to get quick results AND learn how to sustain them. Integrity, responsibility, confidence, courage, compassion, discipline, freedom, and JOY are embedded in the work and play. When you self-lead through health and life challenges, you can't help but lead in all areas of your life!

Tell us about yourself

After flying helicopters for the Army, I found myself picking up Cheetos between the seats of a mini-van with three kids under the age of five. Needless to say, I was lost. The gym became my respite, passion, and career. After 20 years of playing in the fitness industry, with a book and a DVD (yes, a DVD!). I knew exactly how to help people get to their fitness goals quickly and create a team of people who did the same.

And then...I realized that having the right plan was only one piece of the puzzle. It is one thing to know what to do (eat right, go to the gym, speak kindly, turn off Netflix) and quite another to do it. I was seeing, and personally experiencing, this gap between knowing what to do and doing it. I wanted to know how to bridge that gap for me and others. So, I went back to school and learned about the cognitive puzzle piece and the nuances of behavior change. Fast forward many years and hundreds of clients later. I now have a specific model and methodology that I use and give to clients so they can keep using it. I use it in my own life, every single day! The thing that motivates me is knowing that we are all practicing together. I love, love, love what I do, and am uplifted by those who want to live their bt lives and go beyond surviving and thriving!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Creating a tool and methodology that organizes a simple and clean way to integrate behavior change with self-awareness. That just means creating something people can truly use! It's taken many years and trial and error to simplify what can feel so confusing and overwhelming. I've taken a lot of research and complicated methods and organized them so that people can use them for behavior change and personal transformation. There is nothing more rewarding than that!

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Trusting yourself. There are a lot of decisions that need to be made. Many of them will be in areas that are not your area of expertise. Knowing how to listen, research and organize information and input is a learned skill for sure!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Block your time and plan your results. Know what you will do with your work hours every day. Block time before you start and practice following through and achieving a specific result. For example, instead of thinking you will work on your book today, block out 1:00-3:00 pm, Write 2000 words. Be specific, have a sense of urgency, focus, and get it done!
  2. Value your time. There are some things that you shouldn't be spending your time on. Know what they are and hire/delegate those things. Even if you don't have the cash flow right now, start looking at apps or systems that will help organize your process so you can delegate easily later!
  3. Take care of yourself! You are your most important asset! I tell my clients to block time first and foremost for YOU. Know how much sleep you need, what kind of food energizes you, what your morning routine needs to be to set your mind in the right mode, and whatever else YOU decide you need to maximize your mind and body. Take care of yourself-your business needs you, and you want to live a fulfilled life!!
