Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Marlyse Tchamko, Owner of The Wellness Tea, located in Lincoln, NE, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own an online store where I sell 100% organic herbal wellness tea blends. My customers are typically women who want quality they can trust. I'm passionate about helping women relax and unwind with organic, ethically-sourced tea blends – crafted to nourish the mind, body, and soul. I believe every woman deserves the best, so whether you're looking for a calming cup of tea before bed or an energizing pick-me-up, our wellness blends are safe and effective.

Tell us about yourself

Herbal teas became a huge part of my lifestyle when I discovered my intolerance for coffee due to its high caffeine levels. If you are an avid tea drinker, then you probably want to consume a beverage that prevents the "caffeine jitters" while also boosting your overall wellness.

The Wellness Tea was born out of the need for something more wholesome, pure, and powerful than other traditional wellness teas already on the market. I think tea is a beautiful art form in itself, but with an added wellness benefit, it becomes magic. That is what we created at The Wellness Tea.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner is creating a brand of organic herbal teas where I have control of each production stage. I feel good about what I'm drinking each time I brew a cup of herbal tea from The Wellness Tea, and knowing that I'm sharing this quality with other women makes me more proud.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

A business owner hat is full of challenges. So being able to develop a strong mindset will put you in a good position.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Set up a plan and objectives from the start, and visualize your end goal.
  2. Define and know your target audience, and understand their pain points.
  3. Keep learning and collaborating in order to keep improving your skills.
