What's your business, and who are your customers?

I own the Yoga Studio of Little Rock, the only Iyengar yoga studio in Central Arkansas. My studio welcomes everyone! All ages, genders, and fitness levels.

Tell us about yourself

I am a former professional ballet dancer. After a 15-year career, I transitioned to yoga. I became a certified Iyengar yoga teacher in 2016. I have a deep interest in the physical body and how it functions. Movement and alignment are both areas that many people struggle with this as they age. I am so grateful to be able to help people find more mobility, build strength after an injury and feel better in their bodies.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

In 2020, I, like all small businesses, had to navigate the Covid pandemic and its impact. I began to teach all my classes on Zoom two weeks after the pandemic started. The silver lining to the last 2 1/2 years has been the ability to live out of the box and keep my community of students together and moving forward.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

As the owner, all things ultimately start and end with you.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Love what you do.
  2. Believe in your idea and your goals.
  3. Don’t compare yourself or your business to anyone else.
