Better Conversations - thric3

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Liz Wald, Co-Founder of thric3 LLC., located in New York, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

thric3 is your trusted friend in navigating your path to improved well-being with cannabis so you can feel better, laugh better, love better, think better, sleep better, and in general, live better. The thric3 NFTs act as membership cards unlocking exclusive access to people, places, and products and providing unique ways for brands to develop relationships with consumers.

Tell us about yourself

I've always been attracted to new technology and understanding how it can disrupt industries, and with cannabis and web3, you have a true double whammy of disruption! I'm motivated by the challenge, and in these two industries, the challenges are never-ending!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I started and ran a fair trade import company (2003-2008) and was able to positively affect the lives of thousands of women in Eastern Africa, in particular in Rwanda. While this company ultimately failed, the impact on their lives and that of their families was lasting.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

"Doing it all" -- when you are a business owner, you have to take on lots of roles for which you are probably not the best (or even a very good) person to do the job. You have to be willing to learn and fail on the fly and then learn from that, re-direct your efforts, and move forward. It's an amazing learning opportunity but can be too much for people who don't want to juggle work that is not in their wheelhouse.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know your 'story' - Why are you doing this? If you can't answer with passion. Stop and regroup!
  2. Embrace failure - "A" fail doesn't mean you are a failure. You learn from it, and it makes your idea/product/service better.
  3. Find a great partner who pushes you and has a different set of skills.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Things come up -- build in some more runway than you think you need. No one ever complained about having prepared with too much time or money!
