What's your business, and who are your customers?
We manufacture Cauliflower Crusts that are gluten-free, and vegan and make the best pizza you've ever had. Our customers are primarily Millenials and Gen-Z flexitarians looking to incorporate more healthy foods into their diets.
Tell us about yourself
After running successful hotspots La Esquina and The Box, I took the skills I learned working on the line in a Michelin-starred kitchen to create a product that would shake up the plant-based food world. Fondly dubbed Uncle Nick by my 44 nieces and nephews, I wanted to create something that EVERYONE could enjoy taking into account many dietary restrictions and allergies. So I created this 100% plant-based cauliflower pizza crust which is not only vegan but also gluten-free and delicious. Uncle Nick's Cauliflower Crust is also nut-free, dairy-free, and soy-free. In fact, it is completely free of the top 14 most common food allergens and has been made strictly with non-GMO ingredients. I am motivated by principles of inclusivity and making delicious, healthy foods accessible to all.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner
I am proud to be featured in such incredibly iconic retailers in the Hamptons and in Juice Press Markets in NYC.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
My wife says, "when you own a business, it owns you." What I think she means is that it becomes a part of every decision you make, how you spend your time, and how you show up in life.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Get granular in your growth strategy.
- Stay flexible.
- And always have a backup plan.
