Sis Apparel for Women Empowerment - Ve’Lyncea Murphy Conner

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in clothing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Ve’Lyncea Murphy Conner, Owner of Sis Apparel for Women Empowerment, located in Memphis, TN, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Sis Apparel for Women Empowerment is an online boutique providing everyday women with quality pieces that are fashionable yet affordable.

Tell us about yourself

I have always been a woman who loves to see other women be their best selves. I know I was born to empower and uplift women from all walks of life. From young ladies all the way to CEOs in the boardroom - and every type of woman in between. The concept of Women Empowerment is what fuels my brand and my business. My online boutique was created out of frustration. I was trying to help a friend find an outfit for an important event with no luck. It was so difficult trying to find something that was classy, affordable and made her feel beautiful. Ultimately, Sis Apparel for Women Empowerment was born.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I would have to say my biggest accomplishment as a business owner has to be the relationships I have gained. From my clients, loyal customers, business coach, and other supportive friends. Having the right people around you in business can make or break your success.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being a business owner has its ups and downs. One of the hardest things, I would say, is work-life balance. The late night and long hours can definitely be a challenge, especially for a new business owner. But once your get organized and learn from others, things start to smooth out.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The top 3 tips I would give are to do your research. Whatever industry you are going in, study other businesses and owners in that industry. The second tip is to ask questions. We don’t know it all, and it helps us to ask questions and get feedback from others. The third tip is to keep going! It’s so easy to give up and throw in the towel. Keep going!

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

The mission of Sis Apparel for Women Empowerment has always been exactly that - to empower women of ALL shapes and sizes from ALL walks of life. The mission itself, the apparel, and the unique and personalized customer service allow my customers to have a sense of confidence and appreciation they may not otherwise feel when shopping online. I learned from the very beginning of launching my business that I wanted to be different from the average online clothing boutique.
