Virtual Assistant Services - Virtual Bees

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Reggi Chavez, Owner of Virtual Bees, located in Albuquerque, NM, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Virtual assistant services for small businesses and real estate professionals that value quality and convenience! We aim to help other visionaries achieve their goals and get their time back.

Tell us about yourself

My career as a virtual assistant started after I was a stay-at-home mom with a burning desire to do more. I knew I didn't want to sit in an office, but I also didn't want to put my career on hold either. I've always had a passion for helping others as it makes life more meaningful and simply makes me happy.

Several years ago, I met my best friend and business partner, Destinee, and we talked about starting a business and giving up our 9-5 schedules that we've had for years to spend more time with our families. Combined, our strengths and skills make for a powerful duo. Experiencing the effects of COVID, we realized it was time to pursue our dreams.

In July 2021, we decided to take on that risk, and it's been an incredible journey since then. We are so proud to be a Black-owned, Hispanic-owned, and women-owned business! My motivation comes primarily from the fact that I am building generational wealth for my daughter. I'm showing her how I can run a business and also be a powerhouse mama!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

With my experience so far, I have created multiple social media accounts, developed strategies, and optimized workloads for my clients. Knowing I'm helping someone get their time back and keep their head screwed on straight is my most fulfilling part! Especially getting to be home with my 2-year-old while I do this work.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

All behind-the-scenes work I do as a small business owner that I don't get paid for. People always see the face and what we put out there, but they don't know some of the long days and late nights it's taken to do backend things for our business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do your research. Google is an incredible resource to get started. I know for us, reading blogs is what sparked our idea to start a virtual assistance agency.
  2. Don't let the fear of imposter syndrome keep you down. Anything you start is going to feel weird at first, but believe in your skills and capabilities.
  3. Always be learning and blossoming your skills! There's always something new or updated to learn.
