Tell us about yourself

As the former editor-in-chief of American Spa magazine and an award-winning journalist and content strategist, I've long been involved in the wellness industry. My business partner Julie Keller Callaghan and I wanted to create a comprehensive destination for all things related to wellness for both consumers and industry professionals. Our mission for Well Defined is to be a trusted source of wellness information and empower people to make educated choices that positively impact and enhance their health and that of their businesses.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Earlier this year, Well Defined launched its inaugural Well Defined Women in Leadership Summit, which was a great success. This powerful day-long summit, which will be returning in 2023, combines networking, education, experiential services, and more. And since Well Defined's launch in January 2021, we’ve cultivated 78,000 newsletter subscribers.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Without a doubt, one of the hardest things about being an entrepreneur is finding a happy work-life balance. It's a constant struggle, as it seems there are never enough hours in the day to accomplish everything you want or need to do.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Work with people who share your vision. It's important to surround yourself with people who support you and the work that you're doing.
  2. Be sure to set clear boundaries. Come to terms with the fact that your to-do list is never going to be complete. Some days you'll be more productive than others. That's okay. Burnout is real, so you must prioritize time for the things you love.
  3. Don't wait for perfection. It's easy to overthink things and get caught up in revision mode. However, sometimes you simply need to act.
