Reconnect With Yourself - Women's Nutrition Clinic

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Eleni Ottalagana, owner of Women's Nutrition Clinic, located in Austin, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Many females can feel stuck in their health or relationship with food. Women's Nutrition Clinic (WNC) provides invaluable tools to support women in finding solutions for their health. WNC also specializes in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Here at WNC, we work to fill in the gaps in women's health. We utilize integrative and functional nutrition.

Tell us about yourself

I felt like I have been "training" or "in business" since a young girl. Fascinated by holistic healing as young as five years old, I would accompany my mother on Saturdays to work at the local apothecary. From there, I discovered the world of functional and integrative medicine. I've gained experience working in private practice settings and through international travel. There was always a deeper knowing that drove me to create the Women's Nutrition Clinic. I never really had a plan B. And through my own experience with PCOS, I was inspired to really focus on this syndrome and address it from a holistic approach. I personally and professionally saw the gaps in the health care field when addressing PCOS. I find true purpose in shifting health care for women. This is what motivates me every day. If I can support one woman and or a small group...these women can go and share their insight with females they know. And we have this ripple effect to help women find a better state of health.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Having a successful private practice that helps to transform lives and give women their health and freedom back. It is our birthright to have good health and enjoy our day-to-day lives. Helping women achieve this by far feels like the biggest accomplishment.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Always feeling "on." I do have to admit as a business owner; I truly have a great work-life balance. However, there is sort of always this feeling of being on. I am the only one people can turn to. So this means having boundaries while also being flexible with needing to take care of situations.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Have your systems in place- don't skip out on systems early. Even if they seem like they don't matter much, they do.
  2. Invest in your business- this doesn't mean you have to make huge financial leaps, but don't skip out on networking events, business coaches, or marketing expenses. You get out what you put in!
  3. Fast growth isn't necessarily good- in our society, we sort of have an obsession with success and being bigger & better. Growing slow and steady is powerful. You have time to build what is necessary, process what is happening, and mature with your biz.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Stepping into our true purpose or life purpose can be scary, yet necessary. Starting a business is a leap, yet if it feels like your calling, then go for it! I do believe things have a way of working out. If you can be flexible in your thinking, you can have grit and good intention.
