For A Positive Workplace - Workplace Wellbeing Advisors

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Danielle Pusateri, Founder of Workplace Wellbeing Advisors, located in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I work with companies of all sizes and all over the world to help them create long-term well-being strategies that are woven into their culture in order to make a difference in employees' lives.

Tell us about yourself

I had cancer as a kid, and so for as long as I can remember, I've been passionate about the subject of well-being and what makes life worthwhile. And I'm constantly motivated by my mission to help create a world where a focus on improving well-being is central to individual, organizational and societal decision-making. We must move away from traditional metrics like GDP and revenue growth and have well-being become the standard measurement of success.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Honestly, my biggest accomplishment as a business owner is staying dedicated to my work while being a mom at the same time. I have two young children - ages 3.5 and 10 months -and while I love my work, I also refuse to sacrifice quality time with my kids. I've become good at being highly productive during a limited number of hours. And it is NOT easy to maintain a business while being a mom during the day.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing, at least for me, is the juggling act of servicing clients while simultaneously building my business. I'm a solopreneur for the most part. So, of course, it's great to have multiple clients that keep me busy. Still, it's hard to find the time to do more strategic work that enables me to build in the direction I envision for my work.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. It's not enough to have a "passion project." If you plan to start a business and support yourself or your family with it, you must love all the elements of building a business genuinely - or you need to create a team that will do the parts you don't want to do.
  2. Purpose is more important than passion. Getting a sense of purpose from what you do creates REAL and LASTING motivation. Passion can die out. So spend time thinking about what truly lights you up. Connect your business to your personal story and experiences. These things will help you stay motivated for years to come
  3. Tap into great entrepreneurial communities. Surround yourself with people who are in the thick of it. This will help you access resources and get the support you need while building relationships and friendships with people who can relate to your struggles and successes.
