Well-being Starts With You - Yogi Mel

Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Melissa Grywalski, Founder of Yogimel, located in Jersey City, NJ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a birth doula, energy worker, and yoga teacher.

Tell us about yourself

Since 2011, I have been passionate about sharing my creativity, knowledge, and personal discoveries about healing with others. I went to Montclair State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Fine Art, focusing on sculpture. In college, my anxiety was overwhelming, and I struggled emotionally. This lead me deeper into art, and I found yoga. The study of yoga has led me to find and explore other wellness practices. I became a Healing Touch and Reiki practitioner. Continuing my study in healing, I am learning herbal medicines. In an energy session, I can combine reiki, healing touch, aromatherapy, cupping, massage, stretching, and herbalism.

During my yoga training, the topic of prenatal clients and anatomy was eye-opening. My teacher, Carrie Parker, said, "You can not be pro-choice and not be pro-birth." This sparked an interest in the female anatomy, the history of women, and birth. I did my birth doula training with Birth Arts International. I love to empower and support you and your family during a life change experience. I strive to provide an overall healthy, safe, and healing experience for all and fulfill their wellness needs. I support all lifestyle choices and am willing to work with you if you require special accommodations for any of my services. Although many of my services were created with women in mind, I gladly welcome and encourage people of all genders to join me in the quest for a better well-being.
