Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Sally DiCesare, Owner of Your Blissful Journey, located in Alexandria, VA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I work with moms with chronic pain to learn specific skills so they can take back their power over pain. It breaks my heart when I see moms unable to love their children fully because they are so bogged down and blocked in by pain. They can learn, implement and practice privately or through group coaching delivered online anywhere in the world.

Tell us about yourself

My body was clamping down with pain. My fingers lost their grip from the pain from the tension in my back. My muscles went into spasms, leaving me contorting to ease the pain. My husband called me his witch. Yes, he did, and not because I was enchanting. I came home frustrated and hurting. Instead of greeting him and my children, I lashed out about silly things, causing my kids to scatter.

A friend said, "You need help." Now that hit me. Because believe it or not, I didn't even know what I needed. The idea that my life could be any different was foreign to me. But those three words opened my mind to hope new to new possibilities. And so, my journey to health and healing began over 30 years ago. After experiencing alternative modalities, I studied those that worked for me and soon began sharing their benefits with others.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My heart sings when I see the light in someone's eyes because their pain has lifted. I believe that I've been able to solidify the three pillars of healing of body, mind, and emotions through teaching skills while supporting the implementation and practice of those skills. I have had more success guiding clients to achieve their goals.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

For me, it's finding the right balance between serving my clients in session and creating contact that reaches a broader audience. Unfortunately, it seems the pendulum is always swinging between sessions and creating content.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Think about every enticing opportunity that comes in front of you. Get as much information as you can. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
  2. Decide without second guessing. You can never make the "wrong" decision because it is the one you made. You can always decide to change tactics if you find it isn't best for you.
  3. Self-care is not selfish. It is a necessity. Stop and smell the roses. The more you fill yourself, the more you can do for others.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

Curiosity is an excellent way to get unstuck. It opens the door to possibility. Look at all situations with "isn't that interesting." This mindset keeps me in the present moments.
