Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Gunny Sodhi, CEO of YouVeda LLC, located in Irving, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Our business is called YouVeda, and we help customers gain access to high-quality Ayurvedic Supplements targeting the brain, gut, joints, immune and overall health. Our customers are more female-centric and are interested in learning about natural ways to live a healthier lifestyle.

Tell us about yourself

What first got me motivated was my own health struggle. After my younger brother passed away in a car accident, I encountered severe depression and anxiety and was scared of the side effects of pharmaceuticals. Luckily, I had my dad, who is an Ayurvedic and Naturopathic doctor, help me understand that the same body and mind that can cause this is the same body and mind that can take you out of it. He helped put me on a specific supplement and lifestyle regime, and within 30-45 days, I was completely healed and enjoying life normally again. I knew I had to give back and help others who were suffering. This desire to truly help people is what motivates me each day.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

The thousands of customers we have been able to help and the countless lives we have been lucky enough to impact.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Sometimes, you do not know if things or plans will work out, and you just have to trust your gut. I know personally, I rely on data a lot, but sometimes, there is no data to support what you are about to do, and you just have to trust things will work out, or you will learn. I think this is hard because, as a business owner, you always want to maximize and optimize, but sometimes you just have to go for it.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. At the start, YOU will be doing almost everything.
  2. Never outsource customer communication. You get valuable feedback and data knowing your customer's highs, lows, etc.
  3. Things take time to build, so be patient.
