Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Zachary Green, co-founder of Warrior Enterprises LLC, located in Hilton Head Island, SC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We help your organization and team learn warrior traits like grit, perseverance, and teamwork. Inspiring the warrior spirit to help entrepreneurs & leaders get more out of business and life.

Tell us about yourself

I'm a US Marine Veteran and a former firefighter. After a career in the pharmaceutical field (Eli Lilly & Co), I decided to start my own business after I got lost in a fire. I developed a brand of glow-in-the-dark materials to help firefighters increase accountability and reduce disorientation in the dark. I started selling products out of the trunk of my car and eventually grew the company to over $30MM in sales. Thanks to my patent on a non-electric EXIT sign that uses the same materials. I now help veterans, and first responders start and grow their businesses. My greatest motivation is helping those who take off the uniform and want to pursue the American Dream of being an entrepreneur.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I had the opportunity to testify in front of the US House of Representatives Small Business Committee on ways to help my fellow entrepreneurs.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Mental toughness and grit. There is a solution to every problem. However, those solutions can be more than most people can handle.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Solve a problem in a unique and elegant way. Don't try and sell something but rather solve a problem.
  2. Have an unfair business advantage. Not unethical or illegal, but you need an edge to compete with larger and established businesses.
  3. Create fantastic sales, marketing, and distribution. It doesn't matter how great your product or service is if no one knows about it and can't easily buy it.
