Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Terence Daniels, Founder of 1st Step to Growth, located in Phoenix, AZ, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I write a weekly newsletter dissecting how brands grow using social media.

Tell us about yourself

For the last decade, I've honed considerable skills at various startups, and there are two I'd consider myself an expert in:

  • Social Media Marketing
  • Search Engine Optimization

I help creators and entrepreneurs leverage social media content to grow their brand, audience, or business. I love a good cup of coffee, so message me if you want to chat. In the meantime, I've compiled a step-by-step guide for creating content that converts - Modern Marketer.

As if that wasn't enough, I'm also the founder of The Cactus Club. It's my mission to help students of all abilities create and maintain solid practice habits, healthy techniques, and positive mindsets when it comes to golf. With over 20 years of experience helping golfers get better - no matter their ability level. I know what it takes to improve your game.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I've helped hundreds of partners reach millions of customers using social media.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The ups and downs. One month you are riding high on your accomplishments, and the following month you see a dip in engagements. Then the next month, you see a hockey stick in revenue earned.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Fundraising: To secure funding, start with thorough research and preparation, approach investors strategically with a solid business plan, pitch your unique value proposition, and network effectively.
  2. Customer Acquisition: Create a strong brand identity, develop a comprehensive marketing strategy that leverages digital channels, incentivize referrals, and prioritize customer feedback.
  3. Managing Growth: Strategically by hiring, expanding offerings, and entering new markets while scaling sustainably, partnering or outsourcing to free up internal resources, and adjusting strategy to stay competitive.
