Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in food and beverage but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tina Wolfe, Co-Founder of Treat Street Snacks, located in Berkeley, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Much Better Butter is a small family-run business that originated by making hand-crafted sunflower seed butters–– the business has since expanded to almond butters. Our butters appeal to folks looking for a healthy alternative to peanut butter. We believe that making, sharing, and eating good food can be transformative—not just for ourselves but for our communities and our world.

Tell us about yourself

Keeping my kids strong with nutrient-rich foods has always been a priority, and over the years, motherhood has motivated me to expand my creative talents and my passion for making healthy foods the whole family enjoys. I make sure all our butters are high in protein, low-to-no sugar, and free of preservatives, additives, or palm oils.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Making the best-tasting sunflower seed butter ever. My family and I tried all the leading brands and spit most of them out.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Never having a day off.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do you know if there is a market for your product?
  2. Have you sampled the product with people outside of your immediate family and friends?
  3. Find/create your community of food producers.
