Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in publication but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Briana Morgan, Technical Writer, Horror Novelist, and Game Writer, based in Marietta, GA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I write horror books and plays for readers who love psychological, paranormal, and monster stories.

Tell us about yourself

I've been writing for as long as I can remember. I've also loved horror since I was a kid. As an avid reader, once I realized I could create my own spooky stories, I was hooked. Every day, the urge to share those stories with the world and connect with readers all over the world keeps me going.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner (so far) is having my one-act play TOUCH adapted into a full-length opera.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the hardest things that come with being a business owner, especially in a creative discipline, is that I have a day job, too. I'm a full-time technical writer, and balancing that with writing and selling books can be tricky.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. The best time to start your business was years ago. The second-best time to start your business is now.
  2. Don't compare yourself to others.
  3. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
