Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jaclyn Daley, Founder of CounterCulture Wellness, located in Brooklyn, NY, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I’m Jaclyn Daley, the founder of CounterCulture Wellness. I am a Holistic Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and an Autoimmune Protocol Coach on a mission to help people to regain their energy, achieve their wellness goals, and cultivate a life that they love.

Tell us about yourself

My own journey with autoimmune is what led me to this work. My symptoms had turned into a laundry list. At my worst, there were days that I couldn’t stand up without feeling dizzy. My education and years of research prepared me to create a holistic nutrition protocol, and in just under a year, my symptoms were almost completely gone. Now, I’ve made it my mission to help people believe that optimal health is possible for them too!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment has been seeing my clients’ results. I am fulfilled when I hear that a client is feeling more energized, less burdened by their symptoms, and getting back to the joyful things in their lives.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Imposter syndrome is something that crippled me in the beginning. The reality is that each person has a specific flavor or flare that makes their impact unique. By hiding away, I realized that I was doing a disservice to the people that needed my help the most. This reframe gave me the courage to offer my services to the world.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Before anything else, get very clear on the “why” or the purpose behind whatever it is that you want to bring to the world. Through both the challenging and exciting times, this is the anchor behind everything you do.
  2. You’ll never feel “ready” - start somewhere and feel empowered by the ability to change course at any time.
  3. Talk to your friends, family, and community about what you’re up to in real-life settings. Pick up the phone or send a text or email to set up a time to connect. The point is to explore ways beyond social media to get the word out. Doing this consistently also reinforces a belief in yourself and your mission.
