What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is Executive Coaching and Leadership Development Training. My customers are those who are trying to grow as leaders in their careers and industries and those trying to expand their impact. I enjoy partnering with women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ leaders because of the unique challenges they face as they navigate owning their power to operate confidently in organizations that may not be prepared to value and appreciate their perspectives and contributions.

Tell us about yourself

In my previous career, I grew as a leader from leading teams of 5 to a team of 215 multi-cultural and multi-national employees spanning multiple activities. I know the excitement and challenge of balancing people management with operations while growing as a leader. My favorite part of my career was being able to develop others as leaders and human beings. People can have a significant impact on the lives of those they lead. Being able to make a positive impact, see people grow, and see them gain confidence is very rewarding. As a result, I am passionate about helping people grow to positively expand their impact on the lives of those they lead.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is being able to connect with people from so many different industries. Leadership is a universal language that has allowed me to operate in higher ed, tech, media, government, healthcare, and pharmaceutical industries.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Coming from an organization with weekly team meetings, metrics, and updates, I quickly realized I needed to create that system for myself. Without it, it's easy to feel stagnant or unsure of what efforts are effective and what efforts need to be adjusted.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do the deep self-reflective work of knowing your values, defining success, and determining what balance looks like to you. That will help you prioritize and create necessary boundaries.
  2. Never stop learning. Be hungry to continue to hone your craft and become knowledgeable on business practices. Also, learn what you can outsource.
  3. Be kind to yourself. If entrepreneurship was easy, everyone would do it.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

I believe the key to a fulfilling life is being able to operate confidently in this world. It becomes easier to prioritize and set boundaries when you have a strong foundation rooted in your values and know your strengths. Focus on what's important long term also becomes easier when you are living in your purpose and sure of what success means to you.
