What's your business, and who are your customers?

I consult and provide executive coaching to leaders of small to medium-sized organizations in the areas of culture, leadership, strategy, and change. My work is based on the bestselling title, Cohesion Culture: Proven Principles to Retain Your Top Talent.

Tell us about yourself

I have spent four decades working with and developing talent for multibillion-dollar organizations, with the last 28+ years serving in a C-Suite capacity. It brings me great joy to see others become successful. I subscribe to the leadership principle of focusing on the needs of others before self. I have a Ph.D. in Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship. My dissertation was on group dynamics with an emphasis on cohesion. This research serves as the basis of my consulting and executive coaching engagements.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Helping my clients transform their culture into a Best Place to Work in a little over a year. And receiving a South Carolina Statehouse Resolution acknowledging my Global Leadership Exchange program between the U.S. and the Philippines.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Accountability. Finding the right mix of people who will have your back yet not be afraid to call you out.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Do something you love.
  2. Don’t take things too personally or yourself too seriously.
  3. Find out who is doing what you want to do and learn from them. In other words, be teachable.
