What's your business, and who are your customers?
Sundog Wellness is a therapist-curated wellness boutique. We believe that if you live well, you'll feel well. All of our products are designed to create a lifestyle of wellness, placing self-care at center stage. We cater to anyone, but women 30-60 are our largest demographic.
Tell us about yourself
After working in the school system as a counsellor for 13 years, I decided two things needed to happen: 1. My self-care needed to become a priority, and 2. People need access to products that will help their mental wellness as it is not always possible to meet with a therapist. I started to look around for products that would inspire me to practice greater self-care and products that I could use in my office for clients. I realized that I would have to shop in a variety of stores (mostly Amazon), and I realized that there are very few places that specialize in mental wellness products. So, I decided to start my own boutique, placing emphasis on education and quality products.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
- Learning (still in process) about the technology required to run an online business.
- Not giving up.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Having to manage all areas of my business (or at least understand them), even areas that are not a natural skill set.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Do your research about your industry.
- Figure out how you'll balance your life- the hustle game is fine for a while, but it isn't sustainable.
- Create a niche that celebrates what makes you unique and stands out from the crowd.
