Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Emilie Ducommun, Founder of Essential Mind Coaching, located in Geneva, Switzerland.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a professional medical coach with a specialization in chronic stress, burnout, and anxiety. I help women overcome stress and anxiety so they can find inner peace, joy, and confidence.

Tell us about yourself

In 2019, I became ill, and the doctors didn’t find what I had. I spent months going from doctor to doctor, having all the blood tests you could think of, having four hospitalizations, being told twice I had cancer, and even having surgery to remove a potential tumor (which was just my appendix, btw). When I was put on steroids as a trial treatment, I decided to stop and choose a different approach. With the help of a coach, an acupuncturist, and a kinesiologist, I found out I was "just" suffering from chronic stress. As soon as I started to work on stress management, all of my symptoms disappeared one after the other.

That was a wake-up call for me, and as cheesy as it may sound, it was a revelation, and I decided to embark on a totally new journey. I've gone through numerous pieces of training to become a stress specialist (and I'm still learning new things every day). I’ve helped dozens of clients already, and I am committed to offering the best I can to help others heal. I am on a mission to raise awareness regarding stress and how it can impact you, your life, and your loved ones if you do nothing about it.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

When a client tells me, she doesn't need to see me anymore because she has healed and is able to overcome stressful situations without problem.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Like everyone, we have ups and downs, but when we work independently, we have to keep reminding ourselves of our WHY to make sure we stay focused, especially when we face uncertainty.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you have a strong WHY.
  2. Believe in yourself.
  3. Don't be afraid to make mistakes. This is how we learn and grow.

Where can people find you and your business?
