Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in digital marketing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Kelly Sigethy, Founder of Frynge Web Design, located in Calgary, AB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business is Frynge Web Design, hosting, and advertising. We can custom design your website from the ground up, give you content management to allow you to change your website, program any custom solution, and then provide website hosting, domain, and organic and sponsored advertising, like google AdWords. Your one-stop shop for all your web design needs. We deal with oil, real estate, and construction sites mostly, but we do all sorts of designs for wedding sites and large and small businesses.

Tell us about yourself

I started on web design back in 1998 and advertising on google. A friend asked me how to build a website, and I started from the ground up. He also asked me how I got to the top of Google, and we figured it out. From there, I've been custom-designing websites for all types of businesses. What sets me apart from most businesses is my clients are my friends. If you don't succeed, I don't succeed, so I make sure I set you up to succeed in your business. If I was to say how many people succeed with their website, it's a very small percentage. Most people fail, and nothing ever comes out of their website. When you want to succeed, The Frynge gives you every opportunity to do so and all the best tools at your disposal.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment was doing websites for a fighter in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). He fought on the Ultimate fighter and made it into the UFC and eventually opened up a t-shirt and clothing line, along with doing seminars and videos.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Honestly, there isn't anything hard about being a business owner. I'm highly motivated to succeed and help others succeed. You surround yourself with good people, and you will succeed. The hardest thing about being a business owner is not being a business owner :)

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The key to the business is advertising. If you don't have that, you can't sell your product or service. It's great setting up a website, but if no one finds it or you get no traffic, you aren't going to sell anything. The key is marketing and advertising, so I would say the main focus should be on your advertising, your marketing, and then your look.
