Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in coaching but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tanner Grindel, Founder of Grindel Coaching, located in Pembroke Pines, FL, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My business focuses on men in their 20s and 30s becoming their best through learning to connect to themselves and their purpose to create an adventure, as well as connecting to others to create opportunities. I have mentored dozens of men to overcome obstacles holding them back from flourishing in any situation. From discovering what makes you excited to be you to understanding how to influence others with who you are, I can bring you from being stuck in mundane to passion-filled days.

Tell us about yourself

I am a white boy who owns his awkward white boy dance moves. I also always have my swiss army knife with lots of tools, which always comes in handy, and I like to put strange things in my back pockets when I need another set of hands. I am in this business because I want to help you unlock and unleash the qualities that make people stand in awe of you. I have always been outgoing, but not until the last few years did I know what it looked like to live in my strengths, both personally and professionally. I found the freedom and power in using the total of my strengths to go into every day ready for the challenges ahead since now I can take on anything. I am in business as a life coach to other men to help them take hold of themselves and their life.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is beginning. It is so nerve-racking to go out on your own and have the confidence to make it. I am proud that I took the leap despite the challenges.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

The hardest thing is not just ditching it and going back to being an employee when I am in a slump of business or just feel overwhelmed. I know the freedom to do what I want and the ability to grow exponentially is worth it, though.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Just start sharing what you know. Even if you feel like you know very little, people will appreciate you sharing it.
  2. Finding lots of mentors have a lot of people from varying backgrounds with varying skills helps keep you grounded when you are in a frenzy and don't know what to do.
  3. If it seems impossible do it, you will learn a lot about yourself, and you will help others grow by putting a challenge out there that seems crazy.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

It's okay to give it a try and have to go back to being an employee for a little bit to rebuild the finances. Keep growing and make sure you enjoy the struggles to appreciate what you are learning and share that struggle with others so they can support you. Never struggle alone.
