Tell us about yourself

I was in a job where I felt my coworkers were not well cared for by management. At one point, I literally cried to my supervisor about it, and he said that was my problem, not his problem. That motivated me to look for other options for what I wanted to do with my life. I was also a guest on a radio program around the same time and was told I could serve and reach more people if I did something different than one-on-one therapy.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Traveling to Montana and getting to work with five different Indigenous tribes.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The old saying it's lonely at the top is so true. At the end of the day, it's a lot of pressure and responsibility on me. There's no one else to blame - I have the final call on everything.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don't be afraid - everything you want is on the other side of your comfort zone.
  2. Even as a business owner, you have to deal with your own insecurities.
  3. Consult with experts - operate as much as possible in your genius zone and consult experts for everything else.
