Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in digital marketing but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Victor Dunn, Founder of Victordxnn, located in Toronto, ON, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My mission is to empower business owners to create impactful storytelling and branding strategies to strengthen their community and increase sales online.

Tell us about yourself

Well, ever since I was 16 years old, I have been fascinated with entrepreneurship. I remember my friends asking me to put on cartoon shows, but I was more interested in watching businesses pitch their brands on Shark Tank. Fast forward to my last semester of university, I was under a s*** ton of pressure from my family and peers to find a salary job after I graduated, but instead… I decided to take a HUGE leap of faith and drive 4732km across Canada (yes, you read that right) and follow my passion as a freelance brand strategist and content producer here in Toronto.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Working with one of the largest global marketing companies in the world and doing brand work for companies such as timberland, Porsche Canada, and other big names in the lifestyle industry.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Perhaps time management. When you are managing multiple projects, it can be hard to find a work-life balance and use your time effectively.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure it is a business that you are knowledgeable and passionate about.
  2. Have a strong, indestructible mindset. Many of my friends are working salary jobs that pay well, so it’s easy to give up at times when finances are not the way you expected, but having a clear goal and sticking to it no matter what others think is crucial.
  3. Create smart goals and a vision board. By having a clear direction, you are able to know the path ahead, and you begin to surround yourself with others in the same boat, which is very important for your growth as an entrepreneur.
