What's your business, and who are your customers?
Invictus Life is a transformational coaching company focused on helping career-driven men who feel stuck, reconnect with their purpose, develop an unconquerable mindset, and learn the fundamentals of neuro-hacking so that they can create extraordinary lives and become the Masters of their Fate. Through one-on-one and group coaching programs, weekend retreats, and nature immersions, we help connect deeply and authentically with themselves and their tribe.
Tell us about yourself
I had all the outward signs of success, high paying corporate career, a beautiful family, and a leader in my community when I was diagnosed with a rare, life-threatening disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis. After surviving a six-year wait on the liver transplant list and a long, painful recovery, I was forced to confront the emptiness of my life, despite the "success." I found myself wondering, "Is this what life is all about?" I had spent so much time running around being busy and thinking that it was my duty as a husband and father to sacrifice my desires to provide for my family. Finally, my body shut down and forced me to stop and re-examine my life.
Through the Inner Battle, personal reflection, and under the guidance of great mentors, I discovered a path back to myself and a life full of purpose and connection. Now I help other men find their path. And that's why I created the Master Your Fate Formula to help other professional men who are stuck go from bored and lonely to living a life of meaning and purpose surrounded by people they feel deeply connected to without needing to start over or run away.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Knowing that I have had a positive impact that has changed the trajectory of the lives of the men I serve has been my greatest accomplishment. When men come to you saying things like "knowing my purpose helps frame everything I do," or "changing my mind was life-altering," or "I have seen things show up in my life I never thought possible," you know you have made an impact that is not only changing their lives but rippling through the lives they touch. The level of impact you can have on society by helping just one man live more authentically and more aligned with their purpose is staggering.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
As a Solopreneur, one of the challenges that come with being a business owner is wearing all the hats - visionary, manager, marketer, bookkeeper, service provider, etc. It's easy to get overwhelmed with what needs to get done to make the business happen. For me, finding great mentors, leaning into my strengths, time blocking, and leveraging other services, such as bookkeepers and virtual assistants, have been the key to my success.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Your business will be a reflection of yourself. If you are struggling with your business, it is often a reflection of an internal struggle. Doing the inner work is a core component of business success.
- Get clear on why you want to start the business in the first place. When things get tough, and they will, remind yourself of your why to keep going.
- Take care of your business, and it will take care of you. Just like everything else in life, growth doesn't just happen; it requires constant nourishment of the right ingredients. Figure out what nourishes your business and be consistent.
