Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health & wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Lillian Jacobs, Founder of Lillian Jacobs Wellness, LLC., located in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm an Ayurvedic and hormone health coach. I work with individuals who want to heal their gut and hormonal imbalances holistically.

Tell us about yourself

My health journey began at an early age when I was diagnosed with a mysteriously long list of food allergies, causing many health problems. Until then, I had been eating the standard American kid's diet (goldfish crackers, cereal, fruit roll-ups, etc.).

As a result of my food allergies, all processed and packaged foods had to be eliminated from my diet. After a few months on a clean, non-processed diet, my health issues began to clear up. Fast forward to today, and they don't bother me at all! Ever since that time as a child, I have been on the path to empowering individuals to heal their bodies holistically.

In my early 20s, I joined a yoga teacher training program and learned about Ayurveda, the sister science to yoga. I was very called to this holistic science and began studying it and applying its lessons to my body. After years of life-changing self-study with Ayurveda, I decided that this is the modality I wanted to share with others, precisely what I do now.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I have difficulty ranking my "biggest" accomplishment because I see so many wins from my clients daily. I've had clients clear up their eczema, heal their body shaming tendencies, get pregnant on the first try, lose 10lbs. and so much more! It's hard to choose just one.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

For me, it's all the back-end work. I love working with clients and leading group programs, which come quickly to me. It's the marketing, launching, emailing, etc., that all also fall on my shoulders that I struggle with.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make sure you're passionate about what you're doing because you'll spend a lot of time doing it.
  2. Work-life balance is critical. You'll burn out quickly if you don't give yourself space to not work.
  3. Take advice and coaching from others. You don't need to reinvent the wheel.
