What's your business, and who are your customers?

Method Pro is a complete marketing and support solution for dentists. Our team includes nearly a century of experience in dentistry as clinicians, office managers, and trainers. We serve clients who appreciate a deeper understanding of the complexities of relationship-based healthcare.

Tell us about yourself

I spent 27 years building a busy group dental practice and serving thousands of patients. About 10 years ago, I started developing dental content for a software company. I established a network of connections through sources like Upwork and worked on many fascinating projects in the profession. Method Pro's CEO offered me a C-suite position in early 2021 as Chief Vision Officer. I've spent most of my time and energy helping our company grow and forge new corporate relationships. I also continue to work with a select group of individual companies and practice owners as a consultant and strategist. I also hold a patent with a close colleague for an exciting product under development for dental teams. I'm motivated to make a difference in dentistry and the individuals that tirelessly serve their patients.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I built a successful small group dental practice that grew by 350% during my years as a senior partner. Making a difference in my community remains my biggest accomplishment. However, I'm honored that companies in my profession look to me as a thought leader and resource to help them grow their businesses. I consider my shift from a healthcare provider to a coach, strategist, and executive to be a sequel to the first phase of my success. At age 54, I'm excited about the possibilities in the journey ahead.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Healthcare faces a barrage of challenges that force clinicians to become savvy managers and entrepreneurs, too. Balancing and developing those three roles has always been challenging, but it's never been more critical.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

First, recognize your technical skills are only one cornerstone of success. You must invest in becoming the best manager and entrepreneur possible. Read the eMyth Revisited by Michael Gerber and apply the wisdom.

Second, create routines that add balance and discipline to your life. Burnout is real, and it happens incrementally, take time for wellness.

Third, make sure you surround yourself with excellent mentors. I never want to be the smartest guy in the room when we're talking about growth, business, investments, and success. Your network is one of your greatest assets.
