Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and fitness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Anna Quinn, Founder of Modest Muscle MVMT, located in Frisco, TX, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

My company is called Modest Muscle MVMT, and we provide education and accountability to anyone who wants to get healthier physically, mentally, and spiritually. Our ideal client is someone who doesn't just want a "quick fix" but wants a better and healthier life.

Tell us about yourself

As a personal trainer for 9+ years, I've seen my fair share of the corporate training industry. I wanted to create a brand that celebrated fitness in ALL stages (not just the "pretty stages"). I wanted to show people that fitness isn't just what you do so you look good naked; it's a series of healthy habits that turn into a more enjoyable life!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I've helped hundreds of people improve their relationships with food, themselves, and the gym... and I've given dozens of other trainers the tools to do the same with their clients. Knowing that the impact I have made will continue on with those trainers and their clients and their families... it's priceless.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Managing all of the tedious "business tasks" has been a challenge, but I think the hardest part of business ownership is motivating myself to continue growing the business even when I'm exhausted. When you don't have anyone expecting you to show up to grow the company, it's easy to let life get the best of you. I'm a single mom, so that seems to happen a lot - but I'm determined not to let that get the best of me!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Hire/get a mentor - they'll save you so much time and money by steering you away from the mistakes they've already made.
  2. Stay organized - it's hard in the beginning, but you'll be so glad you did in the end!
  3. Stay true to your brand and your niche - you may feel like you're limiting the number of people you can reach, but really you're just selectively choosing the clientele that will be the most loyal to you (because they BELIEVE in what you're doing)!
