Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Christa Geddes, Co-Founder of Nimbleback Inc., located in Calgary, AB, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Nimbleback Inc. manufactures and sells The Beam. The Beam is a comfortable foam strip that users place along their spine while they do stretching and breathwork to release muscle tension in their back, neck & shoulders. Nimbleback's customers are people that are looking for a quick and easy solution to their back tension that they can do in their own time at home.

Tell us about yourself

I am 43 years old and have been suffering from back pain since I was hit by a drunk driver when I was 21. I have tried everything for my back pain and spent thousands of dollars on different therapists and products to help me get through my busy days. I discovered a yoga class that used a simple piece of foam that supported my back, and my pain decreased. I got my childhood friend to try it, and it helped her back, too, so we started our company and brought The Beam to market with the end goal to get our product into the hands of other Canadians that would benefit from its use. I am motivated by our customers. I love hearing testimonials about how The Beam has helped their backs so that they can live happier and healthier lives!

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Being featured on Happy, Healthy You on Today's Shopping Choice. The Beam is a highly demonstratable product, and with it being new to the market, many people do not understand it. Being on TSC has helped us showcase how easy and effective The Beam can be to anyone who is looking to release tension in their back. You can find some clips of our episodes here.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Doing everything! I have learned so much from starting Nimbleback.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make a plan.
  2. Don't give up.
  3. Focus on Sales.
