What's your business, and who are your customers?

I am a relationship expert. My clients range from private individuals looking to improve their personal and professional relationships to companies looking to increase internal cooperation and create healthy cultures free of manipulation.

Tell us about yourself

At 15, I founded my first business, employing the homeless, addicts, and ex-cons to do simple jobs. We quickly grew to more than 50 people. I have always found great joy in helping people reach their potential. Growing up, I was encouraged by my family to become a minister, and this provided me with years of training in public speaking, persuasion, counseling, teaching, leadership, and organizational psychology. In my early 20's, I married and moved to Europe, where I worked as a business coach, helping established companies adapt to the new EU markets and increased competition. Over time, I realized that most business problems were relationship problems. My success in helping clients with this part of their lives and businesses convinced me to focus on this area.

Over time, I realized that most business problems were relationship problems. My success in helping clients with this part of their lives and businesses convinced me to focus on this area. Every week, at least one client tells me how working with me has changed their lives in ways they never imagined possible. This is the biggest reward I get from coaching, seeing people I have helped live lives they are proud of.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

In 2022, I finished my second book, "Become Immune to Manipulation: How They Are Manipulating You (And How to Resist It)." Writing a book for a wide audience is a massive undertaking. Some very complex ideas were reduced to their essentials to be made understandable by people without expertise in the subject. That takes a lot of careful pruning and rewriting. My book is already protecting my clients and their organizations from costly manipulation, reducing internal conflicts, and helping them create policies that foster healthy work environments.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Most business owners are not nearly as good at sales as they think they are. "Build it, and they will come" is not a success guarantee. We need to be able to consistently close deals with the people who are drawn to our offers. Getting some professional sales advice and formalizing my sales process was one of the keys to my growth in the last few years.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Make friends with people in your field who are more successful than you and learn from them. I've trained several successful coaches. Yes, we compete with each other, but we also cooperate with and support each other.
  2. Automate everything you can. Automate bookings, payments, and communications as a first step. It improves the customer experience and reduces your overhead.
  3. Get professional sales training and update it with some further training each year. Based on the training you get, implement a formal sales plan that you can incrementally improve.
