What's your business, and who are your customers?
I coach actors around the business of acting, the training that is required to be a working actor, and the confidence and self-assuredness needed to withstand the many pressures of being a working actor. I do this through my signature program, THE WORKING ACTOR ROAD MAP, and my Weekly Coaching Group.
Tell us about yourself
I have been a working SAG-AFTRA actress for over 30 years and additionally work as a Casting Director for my casting company, THE LOOPING DIVISION (www.TheLoopingDivision.com), with my husband, Jason Harris. We cast background and specific voices for Feature Films (DUNE, SNOWDEN, RIO 2 plus many more) and Television Shows for networks such as CBS, FOX, NETFLIX, AMAZON, SHOWTIME, and others. My motivation when I get up each day is to serve and to build self-esteem so that I can coach others to do the same.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishments as a business owner have been to build something out of nothing, keep going no matter what, and not shrink or play small because of disappointment or adversity.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
The hardest challenge for me as a business owner is to grow and learn new things and trust that those things will indeed help my business. That is why I try to practice these things as often as I can.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
- Hire people who are smarter than you.
- Education. Education. Education. Learn what you do not know and master it.
- Do what you most do not want to do before noon - even if it makes you want to vomit in your mouth just a little bit.
