Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in event planning but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Darian Taylor and Jasmine Macon, Founders and CEOs of Pretty & Planned Events, LLC., located in Columbia, SC, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

Pretty & Planned Events, LLC is a black-owned, professional event planning company. We are dedicated to executing event planning services, creative decor designs, and event coordination. Whether it’s a wedding, baby shower, girl’s night out, family dinner, or corporate event, we aim to meet the celebratory needs of our clients.

Tell us about yourself

What started as a hobby became a career goal. With a meticulous love & passion for creativity, we decided to embark on a journey of creativity together. During the process, we realized our major motivation is to bless people with lasting impressions of important moments in their lives. We attribute our success to our dedication to creating distinctive events tailored to the specific needs and desires of our clients. We strive to ensure that we turn our client’s wildest dreams into a reality, and that is what we love the most.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Our biggest accomplishment as business owners is leaving lasting impressions on all of our clients. We pride ourselves on consistently creating a “wow” moment for our clients and surprising ourselves at the end result.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

One of the most difficult things about being business owners is maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Starting a business can be extremely time-consuming, and we both have obligations outside our business demands. The struggle of ensuring we dedicate an even or healthy amount of time between all areas of our lives can be very stressful.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Trust your decisions.
  2. Be willing to change with the time. Trends within your business’ market could change unexpectedly, and you have to maintain some flexibility to ensure the continued success of your business.
  3. Refrain from setting limits and allow growth in all areas of your business.
