Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in physical therapy, but not sure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jenn Evans, the founder of TheraBounce Inc,  rebound therapy in Canada.

Tell us all about your business...

TheraBounce Inc. provides Rebound Therapy to children and adults with a variety of exceptional needs. Rebound Therapy makes use of a trampoline for therapeutic exercises, activities, and recreations. We strongly believe that therapy should be fun and TheraBounce truly is where therapy and fun meet! Our clients and families are one in a million and prove daily that their potential is limitless.

What's your background and motivation to grow as a business owner?

I strongly believe that if your dream job doesn't exist, you should create it. And that's exactly what TheraBounce Inc. is - a dream come true. I have always had a passion for working with children, especially those with exceptionalities. While completing my physiotherapy degree in England, I learned about Rebound Therapy and fell in love. It seemed like the perfect combination of paediatrics, special needs, physiotherapy, sports, and fun.

I completed my certification in Rebound Therapy and was then asked by the international governing body of Rebound Therapy to become a tutor. At present, there is only one other Rebound Therapy tutor in all of Canada. I jumped at the opportunity to train others in this fantastic therapeutic modality. And thus, TheraBounce Inc. was developed to deliver Rebound Therapy, as well as train others.

TheraBounce Inc. has now been operational for a year and a half. We have an incredible team of therapists and volunteers and three locations in partnership with fantastic businesses. We have been lucky enough to touch the lives of over 100 families and can't wait to reach many more!

As an entrepreneur, what does success ultimately mean to you?

My biggest accomplishment as a business owner was starting up TheraBounce Inc. during a pandemic. Children and adults with exceptionalities have been very isolated during this time due to health and accessibility reasons. Many facilities that they would once access for therapeutic exercise, activities and recreation were closed for a better part of this pandemic. TheraBounce Inc. was grateful to be able to provide much needed services during these very difficult months. It has not been easy, but with creativity, adaptability, and ultimately passion about what we do, TheraBounce Inc. has thrived.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being an entrepreneur?

One of the hardest things when being a business owner is how intertwined you are with the business. TheraBounce Inc. would not exist without me, Jenn Evans. But with that comes a lot of pressure. Every business success is felt as a personal success, but in the same breath, every business failure is felt as a personal failure. It's hard to separate yourself from that.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run or grow a small business today?

1. If your dream job doesn't exist, create it!

2. Networking is undeniably one of the most important things.

3. Surround yourself with people that support your dream.
