Tell us about yourself

My name is Terri Maxwell, and the Founder and CEO of Share On Purpose, Inc. I am a business cultivator that created six innovative brands using my Conscious Business Growth Platform™. I also started a Speculator Fund to invest in social ventures focused on making the world better. In an entrepreneurial career that spans almost 30 years, I have launched, owned, sold, rebranded, or turned around more than 50 brands. My latest concept is https://shiftco.global/, a business growth platform for conscious entrepreneurs.

I am known for my game-changing models for both business and personal success. My work has been featured in the New York Times, Success Magazine, FOX, and CBS. I am an "Outlive Yourself Award" recipient and was named Small Business Mentor of the Year by NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners). I am the author of Succeed on Purpose: Everything Happens for a Reason and the co-author of The New World of Work: From the Cube to the Cloud.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

In a career that spans more than 30 years, I have launched, owned, sold, rebranded, or turned around more than 50 brands and now serve as a well-known advisor to leaders seeking to accelerate growth. It's not what I do that matters; it's how I do it. Every business in our portfolio, as well as the clients we serve, receives tireless passion, purposeful expertise, and authentic servant leadership.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Learning to trust, even when it's not working.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Start it for the right reasons (purpose).
  2. Focus on your own evolution (it's not about the business).
  3. You either win or learn. Failure is an illusion.
