Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and business development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Jenn Walker Wall, Founder of Work Wonders Careers, located in Boston, MA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I'm a career strategist, helping people make moves that matter. This often includes supporting them as they navigate self-employment and establish their own small businesses.

Tell us about yourself

I believe that many of us have invested in our careers - we deserve to enjoy them. Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and exhausted is no way to spend your life. My work is about empowering mission-driven professionals to better align their skills, values, and interests with their goals and needs, helping people craft plans to pursue meaningful work and take action when they need to. Seeing people create new opportunities for themselves is what keeps me going.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'm really proud of the people I get to work with and the relationships we've fostered and cultivated across our community of current and former clients. Seeing folks be open to connections and supporting one another has been inspiring and powerful.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

The hardest part of being a business owner is the constant decision-making. It does get more familiar over time. You get used to managing risk. But there are a lot of decisions to be made, big and small, every day!

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

The first thing I would say is to start now. You're going to want (and need) more time than you think. I'd also say start with what you have. You'll learn so much by diving in and getting started. You don't need to know everything before you begin. And lastly, don't be afraid to have a day job or other income to support you while you get things off the ground. It's much easier to make strategic decisions when your basic needs are taken care of.
