Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in health and wellness but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Heba Saab, Founder of HIBS YOGA, located in Las Vegas, NV, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

HIBS YOGA is a boutique yoga therapy and structural integration studio specializing in movement medicine, preventative care, and myofascial bodywork for chronic pain and injury. We help beginners, athletes, and older adults with problems in their joints recover ease and range of motion for enhanced performance and improved quality of life.

Tell us about yourself

As a result of teaching and practicing athletic “gym-style” yoga for 6 years without proper technique or guidance, I herniated 5 discs in my lower back and was on bed rest for 6 months. After undergoing spinal surgery, I turned to Forrest Yoga for healing. Working on my strength and flexibility safely, in combination with structural integration bodywork, exponentially expedited my recovery. It is an honor to share the tools that worked so well for me with my students who are in pain or recovery and support them in caring for their bodies with a sustainable movement practice that they can rely on for life.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

When COVID shut down my business, we transitioned online within 24 hours, setting up an online platform so that our students’ progress would be uninterrupted. Our students rallied in support of keeping our business going as a non-negotiable essential in their lives. We had many students who were able to get stronger and healthier during quarantine than they ever had been in their lives, thanks to their uninterrupted focus on their health and wellness and dedication to our practice.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Being a business owner carries so many unanticipated responsibilities and unexpected challenges. The hardest part for me was learning to ask for help and discerning what kind of help is actually supportive to me and my business.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Don’t fall prey to the “when this, then that” rigamarole; just start. Take the first indicated step.
  2. Hire a business coach, someone who understands your industry.
  3. Trust and follow your intuition, always.
