Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in consultancy but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Tristan Kromer, Founder of Kromatic, located in San Francisco, CA, USA.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

We work with companies struggling in an industry that is being disrupted. Instead of surrendering to the chaos, we teach large organizations that have gotten complacent and stuck on their existing models to reinvent and even disrupt themselves.

We offer training, coaching, and consulting services for innovation transformation.

Tell us about yourself

I've always been interested in creativity - from my ten years in the music industry to the last 18 years in technology and innovation. I love taking time out to build my own products, working with founding teams, and seeing them build something entirely surprising. I love being surprised by the insights teams bring into coaching calls, from talking directly to their clients and learning how to change their business model to deliver value better.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

I'm proudest of when I meet with a startup founder who I coached or trained years later, and they are now the VP of innovation - churning out new ventures and spinoffs.

What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?

Dealing with procurement at large organizations is a special kind of hell similar to going to the DMV. The people in procurement can be lovely, but systems in these companies are set up to make it as hard as possible to get paid.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Know what you don't know.
  2. Stick to one-week rapid experimentation sprints for product development.
  3. Maintain your integrity.
