What's your business, and who are your customers?

As a life coach and intuitive alchemist, I am in the business of helping clients level the playing field between themselves and the emotions that are controlling their lives. Through one-on-one coaching, group coaching, and workshops, I work with clients to break through the self-limiting habits that are keeping them stuck. I work with adults who are feeling called to live life more fully but feel they are living a “Groundhog Day.” Something is missing, but they just can’t put their finger on it. Or, in many cases, nothing seems to be going right, and they don’t know how to get off the rollercoaster.

Many of my clients feel like imposters, are unhappy in their careers, or are working a job they hate but don’t know what else to do. Some are parents, feeling lost as their children are now grown and starting their own lives. Very often, my clients feel challenged in their everyday life. Tell us about yourself

My name is Michelle Barone - I am a life coach, intuitive alchemist, and owner of Moksha Grace Coaching. I created my company to provide myself the space to coach my clients intuitively - without some rigid, cookie-cutter program telling me what to do. I believe in listening to my client’s needs and designing a custom coaching strategy for them. Every client is different and requires unique techniques and perspectives so they can succeed.

I apply all my experiences, techniques I have tested and benefited from, and the gifts I have developed over the years to help my clients create the life they deserve. My first taste of coaching was provided to me by a large organization where I was working years ago. I was happily on the corporate ladder and had just been promoted to the executive level. I was admitted to the executive coaching program - an opportunity I had hoped to be invited to one day.

However, at the time of my promotion, there was also a shift in leadership. My new boss was someone who made it known that she felt my entire department was a waste of resources and felt the organization could save money by dismantling the department - despite our prestigious awards and accolades. I was hoping the coaching program would help me manage the situation and help me understand how to be the leader I needed to be to collaborate with this new boss. I was eager to create a win-win situation for the organization.

Unfortunately, this internal coaching program’s main goal was conformity within the organization and unwavering support for the boss who sought to undermine my efforts. The coaches were to listen to my concerns and convince me otherwise. There was an agenda, and we were sticking to it, no questions asked. That was NOT client-first coaching. It was this experience that inspired my style of coaching today. I want to show up for others that desperately need guidance. I want to listen to them, meet their needs, and help them uncover the answers that are best for them.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My biggest accomplishment is BEING A BUSINESS OWNER. There are so many people that go through their everyday life with ideas, aspirations, and dreams that are never realized. They lock them away and get stuck in a routine where there is little to no joy. That was once me.

I had to work through fears of failure, lack of self-worth, and so much more, so I could allow my ideas and creativity to flow again. If this is you, my advice is - go for what you are passionate about. If you are being nudged to do something, but you’re holding back, let’s figure out what is blocking you and work on that together.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

One of the challenges I face is being such a people person. I love to collaborate and brainstorm, but starting a business can be isolating. It takes time and space to create a team that you trust organically. So, I created a personal “Board of Directors” made up of a few people I trust the most and who understand the way I think. When I need a brainstorming session, I can reach out and get different perspectives and insights needed before an idea is launched or executed.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Take time to understand what you really want to do and accomplish.
  2. Get intimate with your audience and your why. Fully understand who you want to serve and why.
  3. Always remember, your ideal clients may know what they want but seldom understand what they really need. When you know your potential customers/clients, they will find you. They will be drawn to your messaging and you as a person. Never give up on your dreams!
