Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey in personal and leadership development but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Diana Lockett, Founder of Re-align To Thrive™, located in Squamish, BC, Canada.

What's your business, and who are your customers?

I offer Conscious Communication Leadership Consulting. I provide assessment and consultation to organizations and school systems to be able to level up their communication, their relationships, and their success using science and communication practices to awaken leaders (and we are all leaders) to their self-responsibility for their own well-being for their success and the success of everyone they interact with. I am also a Keynote Speaker, Retreat Facilitator, Transformational coach/mentor, and 5x International Best Selling Author.

Tell us about yourself

I worked for 32 years as a consulting Speech-Language Pathologist for nonverbal children. I also became a meditation and yoga teacher trainer and worked with school boards to bring Mindfulness into education. When I work with leaders in corporations and education, I help them to see the leadership and humanity in others and create a relaxed environment for all. I teach self-regulation, compassion, and relating skills to improve all of life. I do some minimum 1-1 coaching and spiritual mentoring.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

My solo book is getting ready to launch. After 5 bestselling compilation books, this 7-year process of completing this book is my greatest accomplishment. It is called The Call to Freedom: Heal your Pain, Awaken your Loving Presence, and launches April 1. It is my memoir filled with spiritual, embodiment and life coaching for the reader to access their Freedom. I am also proud to provide communication systems to nonverbal children in orphanages in Africa.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

My business has so many aspects to it, and I volunteer locally and globally. My greatest challenges are scheduling and organizing my day to ensure that I balance my personal and wellness time with the work that I get to deliver to the world.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Schedule time daily for YOU... your health and well-being. Begin each day with meditation/prayer and movement. The work will always be there.
  2. Welcome help. The greatest success for my business came when I started to hire a team that did all the things I did not want to do myself.
  3. Take breaks. It's healthy to schedule time away from your work, holidays, weekends, etc. Your relationships will thank you.
